Fascinating Fig Facts

Figs are a member of the mulberry family and are the sweetest of all fruits with a 59% sugar content! (No wonder I love them.) The flower of the fig is actually inside the fruit so there are no blossoms on the trees. They are also the only fruit that needs to fully ripen on the tree. Dried figs are actually left on the tree to dry, and then once picked, left in the hot Aegean sun for another couple of days. more...

A: I am glad that you wrote prior to adopting a bird. Many people like the idea of a pet bird because they may feel they don't have enough time for a dog, cat or other pet. Pet birds actually require as much time as a dog and more time than a typical cat. Birds are interactive, social and sentient pets. In the wild, they are rarely alone and enjoy much social interaction with fellow flock members.
